What did you want to be when you grew up? We asked everyone at Covert Results and got several different answers, from playing professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves to swimming with dolphins as a Marine biologists. Needless to say, none of the answers included owning and operating a business. It is not all glitz and glamour like some may think. There’s this one thing called expenses, oh and Uncle Sam! Owning a business can be very rewarding though. The owners must surround themselves by strong mentors and team members. For Covert Results, we have done just that!
Let us tell you a little bit about the history of Covert Results. Our founder, Robert Young was frustrated with his government job as a police officer, so he began throwing around the idea of starting a private investigations and armed security company. Months of thought went into this decision and what was the most important key? Family!
Robert talked to his in-laws, that’s right his in-laws, and had lengthy discussions on how to formulate this company. It took about three months to line everything up, all while reading and researching how to run a business. Next, Robert turned to his secret weapon, his oldest sister Angela Proffitt. Angela has been a very successful business owner in the wedding and events industry for nearly 20 years. She is heavily involved in the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO Nashville) which has expanded her career as a business owner and leader. Angela encouraged Robert to work hard and join the Catalyst program by EO Nashville. This training helps propel small business owners into a new level and ultimately into EO. We must mention that this is not all the help we have had. There’s more! Robert’s second sister has ALS, four children, and a loving husband. Every day she shows others how to live life and how to stay strong. Robert’s mother comes from entrepreneurship as her parents owned the first paint store in Biloxi, MS. Robert’s Uncle owned a flower business and now a clothing store. The brother-in-law is still fighting the good fight and is an active K-9 police officer. The sister-in-law is a badass legal analyst for Covert Results, is in the third year of law school, and writes all of these blogs! Last, but certainly not least, is the wife. According to Robert and not the sister-in-law, she is the rock, a damn good attorney, and a wonderful mother!
