Covert Results has had the pleasure to work many large events with various planners, coordinators, and venues in the Middle Tennessee area. When we were asked to be the security company for the Iroquois Steeplechase 2021, we knew exactly what to do. For the 2021 Iroquois Steeplechase event held on Saturday June 26, 2021, Covert Results was contracted for security services through Volunteer State Horsemen’s Foundation (VSHF) and Evolution Event Solutions to provide armed security, by off-duty law enforcement officers and Covert Results staff, for the major event.
Iroquois Steeplechase, run by the nonprofit and 501c3 organization, the Volunteer State Horsemen’s Foundation, routinely attracts more than 20,000 spectators to the Equestrian Center at Percy Warner Park located in Nashville, Tennessee to watch some of the best horses and riders in the world.
When a large event comes to or occurs in Nashville, there are many things to consider when planning for security. Often times it is the line item “security” that gets cut from the budget; or it is usually an afterthought and last on the list. Too many times in the security industry we see that it is not only last minute, but also reactive. Covert Results has the experience when it comes to planning and executing a security plan, just like Iroquois Steeplechase. Preparation and planning is key to everything, especially when implementing security for a massive event like Iroquois Steeplechase.
With less than 4 weeks to prepare for Iroquois Steeplechase security, Covert Results used connections and resources from TN Highway Patrol, Davidson, Wilson, Rutherford, Cheatham, and Sumner Counties. The security plan called for more than fifty (50) active police officers to effectively conduct proper internal security for the event. No doubt it was hot, but the Officers were able to show a physical presence, which is a great deterrence for potential crime. Heck, some officers enjoyed a game of cornhole with attendees while mingling with the crowd. All in all, it was a great event and most importantly everyone remained safe!
