Ransacked

When I was young, my dad’s police vehicle was ransacked. Driver’s side window was busted and they got a handgun and a shotgun. A truck driver in the neighborhood returned home about 3 am and jotted down a tag of a suspicious car. After my dad took the old school approach of ‘boots on the ground’ to question neighbors, he struck gold. The tag came back to the owner of a pawn shop. I was with my dad when he confronted the felon at his south Nashville home. Dad wasn’t playing and as he held his pistol on the man, telling him he wanted his guns back. Find out what happened!

Taken for a ride!

Eharmony, christian mingle, plenty of fish, Tinder, and Match are just a few dating websites and apps that millions of people, across the world use. While these can be a great way to meet people, even find the love of your life, I am sure you can find someone that has not had a good experience with their “match.” So the million dollar question is, Do you know their past?

Inside Job

I convinced him we knew he stole the money from the safe and even encouraged him to come to the precinct for an interview. After notifying precinct detectives, we drove to the precinct. The detectives allowed me to sit in on the interview. During the interview I played the “good cop, bad cop” where at one point I was yelling at him and another point I was sympathetic. When I took the; “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” method, one of the detectives didn’t like my style.

Overworked!

Did you know that the local Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) covers the entire county; over 520 square miles, with a population over 650,000? That population count is only an estimate; it is widely known that Nashville (Top 25 cities in USA) is growing rapidly. That entire geographic area and growing population is managed by approximately 1350 officers. To put it in perspective, Boston, Memphis, and Las Vegas are all similar to the Nashville population and each department has over 2,000 officers.

Police versus PI

Turn around and put your hands behind your back; you are under arrest! No one wants to hear those words, but face it, people get arrested every day. The police are employed by the government to protect their community by enforcing laws. Often, when someone is arrested, the investigation stops at that event. In more serious cases, a Detective would be tasked with following-up on any information related to the evidence gathered. It is up to the Detective to take that information, document, and inform.

Wanna Get Away?

The funniest Southwest commercial that I have seen and my personal favorite begins with the setting of what appears to be a small hotel room where a male voice can be heard being interviewed in the darkness. The narrator says, “you are taking an enormous risk by speaking with us, so thank you.” The silhouette male voice figure says, “Of course.”
